The Catifa Chair at Milan Design Week 2019

The trends I spotted at the Milan Design Week

A few weeks ago I was in Milan for Milan Design Week, one of the largest furniture fairs worldwide.

I love to go to these kind of events as it allows me to meet my suppliers in person, keep up to date with new products by learning about them and seeing them in real life, and find inspiration for my current projects. I also enjoy trying to spot new trends and repeating “patterns” that I come across in several booths.

Oversize Mirrors

Round, rectangular or oval: they were everywhere. Big mirrors, placed on the floor and slightly tilted or hung on the walls like big artworks. I really liked them!

Brick Orange

According to Pantone, the colour of the year is Living Corala mix between pink and orangebut what I saw everywhere was an abundance of objects with an orange, brick-like colour.

The Catifa Chair, one of my favourite from Arper, a bed from Colombini and sofa from Bonaldo

Jungle Fever

It’s been around for a while and the booths are always full of very lush green plants, but what I noticed this time around was a lot of green and prints or wallpapers of leaves, trees and flowers.

Lannà Kundalini Lamps and a lot of plants everywhere!

This is just the first part, in the next I will show you the pictures of the other trends I spotted.
